What are some good costume ideas to wear to an Anime Convention?

Question

I am going to an Anime convention/festival in Sydney, and about three other people are coming with me too.

What are some anime/manga/japanese culture characters that we could dress up as that require a fairly easy costume or something we could make ourselves?

e.g. Don't say "Sailor moon" because their costumes are way too elaborate.

I will be checking for a best answer!

what is your favorite anime character?  use what they are wearing and how they express.

To paraphrase:

Cheap, easy, or well-done: You can have two, but not all.

An easy costume that looks nice would be to go in nice kimono. But obviously, that's probably pretty pricey.

Easy: Do any of you own business suits? A lot of characters wear business suits.

Hard to say without knowing more about the group in question.

It would be great if you could all do a "group" cosplay. You will have a greater chance at getting stopped for pictures and enjoying the efforts you put into your costumes!

For a simple anime/cosplay, I recommend Death Note. The costumes are fairly simple and you can even make Misa's costume simpler if someone wanted to play here. L's costume is really simple, as well as Light's. Then there's other characters such as Near, but Mello's might be a little much as he likes to wear leather. lol But dark pants could always qualify. ^_^

you could do a group cosplay

if theres four of you, you could do like a 'Wammy Group' Matt, Mello, Near and L. there all pretty simple costumes.

or anyone from Naruto. but there way overused.

Ouran maybe? its a pretty simple costume.

dont know about costumes really. im not even an anime fan but i saw you can get extra wide anime eyes contacts. deffinately do that.

Lacus Clyne for a girl. She has many costumes, and all you need to do to be recognised as her is a pink wig and a golden star hair clip. I managed to make that easily, or maybe Meer Campbell. I don't watch GDS but I think those costumes are nice.

A really, really easy one would be Winry Rockbell from Fullmetal Alchemist. However someone has to be a blondie.

The very easiest is Haruno Sakura, but that is overrated.

But I was really thinking of 'Kuroshitsuji' Black Butler. It's a pretty new manga series which will be turned to Anime, but for the cosplay all you need is a  suit, (preferably tuxedo) white gloves. Someone has to be extremely tall though.

So I think Lacus Clyne would work out better...pink hair is cool.
