  1. try some old tracks and tie string to them hang them fromt he celling...hmmm have maybe pastel colors and music notes all over the walls rollin stone magazines if u have any....not sure but maybe that might help and for food....try lots of deserts and punches in a bowl......trays of food...meats and cheese.....or fruits....veggies....stuff like that

  2. You can usually get old albums cheap at a thrift store. If you can find 80s records, use the cover and have the record peeking out. If they don't have 80s albums, get whatever and spray paint them neon colors, then hang them up. Movie posters for 80's films would be cute, too. If you can't find any I bet you could print out some and have them enlarged.

I can't think of any foods that are unique to the 80's, but if you want to keep it simple, I'd go with pizza and snacks.

  3. Try looking in used record stores for 80's albums that you can afford - Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Bangles, Blondie - anything like that and you can put the album covers on the walls and string the records from the ceiling. If you can't find album covers, try just printing album artwork or posters and hang that up.

Also, CD's were introduced in the 80's - get some inexpensive CD's  or even blank ones if you have those lying around or use your old scratched ones and string those up. If you have blank ones, write names of singers or groups on them using Sharpies. If you are artistic, you can even try to draw the artists or make them look a little like album covers.

If you have the room somewhat dark, people won't even notice the printed side - only the shiny side will give off rainbowy reflections.

Also, just about anything neon colored - like balloons, bangle bracelets, jelly shoes can be used for table decorations.

Hope this gives you some ideas

  4. DIY Dr Who theme- make a box / console out of carboard, and make dalek cakes(!) from coconut covered marshmellow balls , with cherries for heads..

  5. A few years ago, I had an 80s party and being the pack-rat I am, I didn't need to purchase anything to decorate with!  I decorated by putting lots of Vinyl records (in their decorative sleeves/covers) on the walls, along with 80s posters/t-shirts.  I also had a ton of cassettes and strung them from the ceiling.  I played lots of 80s music and also had a video tape playing with a marathon of the t.v. show "The Facts Of Life."

Guests were encouraged to tight roll their jeans, wear big hair and bust out the rubber bracelets and Madonna gloves.
