What are some good drills to improve on my skills if im a libero/ds?

  1. have someone toss you a tennis ball outside about 20 times... shuffle and catch it.

    Then have them throw/toss it to you faster and faster everytime. then after that have them throw it.. not necessarily at you but to your sides.. above your head.. and everywhere else youre not.

    this will improve your reactions and make your feet move...

    the trick is to catch it with  BOTH hands not one.... no body likes a libero who messes up because they cant hit the ball with two hands.

    you can also have them throw it towards the ground and use your quick reactions to catch that ball before it hits the ground. Do this in a grassy area! not concrete... common sense.

    If you have a guy friend who is particularly strong and good at throwing.. have him throw a volleyball as hard as he can at you and bump it/ set it up. Then have him throw it as hard as he can at the ground or by your sides so you can shuffle and get the ball up from your mid line plat form.


  2. HERE ARE A FEW TIPS & DRILLS TO IMPROVE YOUR DIGGING AND PASSING SKILLS.

    TIPS:

    -FIRST FOLLOW THE ONE , TWO , THREE STEPS

             *READY POSITION

             *GET UNDER THE BALL

             *STEP TOWARDS YOUR TARGET

                  (BUT KEEP YOUR BALANCE)

    -DONT RUN WITH YOUR HANDS TOGETHER

    -ALWAYS BE DOWN AND READY

    -ALWAYS HAVE CONTROLLED PASSES

    DRILLS:

    -SERVE RECEIVE: (GYM SUGGESTED) FOR THIS DRILL YOU NEED 2 PEOPLE (NOT INCLUDING YOURSELF) YOU WILL NEED A SERVER AND A TARGET. HAVE THE SERVER ON THE  OTHER SIDE OF THE COURT AND HAVE THE TARGET CLOSE TO THE NET. YOU SHOULD BE POSITIONED IN MIDDLE BACK. HAVE THE SERVER SERVE DEEP BALLS. USE THE TIPS FROM ABOVE TO RECEIVE THE SERVE AND PASS TO THE TARGET.  MAKE SURE YOUR PASSES ARE CONTROLLED AND ARE HIGH ENOUGH FOR A SET.

    -DIGGING:(NO GYM REQUIRED) FOR THIS DRILL YOU WILL NEED TWO PEOPLE. A HITTER AND A TARGET. BOTH PEOPLE WILL BE POSITIONED ON THE SAME SIDE AS YOU. HAVE THE TARGET IN THE MIDDLE AND HITTER OF TO THE SIDE. YOU WILL POSITIONED IN THE BACK. HAVE THE HITTER , HIT BALLS TO YOU IN DIFFERENT BACK POSITION. WHEN MOVING TO THE BALL YOU MUST SHUFFLE. WHEN YOU RECEIVE THE HIT , DIG AND PASS TO THE TARGET. KEEP IN MIND YOUR PASS MUST BE CONTROLLED AND HIGH ENOUGH FOR THE SETTER(TARGET) TO SET.

  3. okay girl i am a labaro ad ds too so here is what i do!

    get a v-ball and wall then practice passing there.

    go drills that get your feet moving like doing shuffles and karokes. also when practicing passing mix it  up by making short or side to side. if you have a friend to help you then have them throw you balls deep short and side to side. another drill is to be lying down on your front side then have a friend snap (hit) the ball so you get up and then have them throw it but it has to be a fast moving drill they have to snap then automatically throw . this will make you very fast and ready for anything. i think think of anything else but if i do ill let u know. if you have any Q's email me.

  4. probably anything that would help your lateral movement, like shuffling side to side. Try to get faster laterally and that should help a lot. Also you should just practice passing and overhand passing all the time.
