I am life rank, and I am doing my eagle project soon. The thing is i have been inactive in my troop, besides philmont etc., because of high school (i'm now a sophomore), so the newer scouts don't know me. What's a good way to promote the eagle project? how do i get the most people to show up? and should i start passing out flyers in april, when the new scouts show up, needing hours?

thanks

  1. Paint the lines in a parking lot. Feed the poor. Collect winter coats for the homeless.

  2. Hello kyle:

congratulations on starting your Eagle project. Part of the emphasis of the award is to demonstrate leadership. Leadership is the ability to motivate people to do what you want them to do (weather they want to do the task or not). To motivate the new boys, you will need to "sell" them on the project, and make it feel as if they are contributing in a genuine way, rather than just serving time.

Prior to the project, you will need to get some "face" time with the troop. It is difficult to find time, but attending one or two meetings a month so that the boys can recognize you will help. When you present your project proposal to the troop, use a great deal of enthusiasm and involve the boys. If they can see how the project will benefit the community, you will have better turnout.

    Keep on Scoutin'

  3. I would do a camp trip for the weekend. Like an open house camp trip that teaches you all about the outdoors.

If you cant do that then a open house on campus during lunch with hands on stuff that show what your organiztion is about.
