I have thought about taking my kids on a cruise, they are 5 and 7. What age do think would be good for them to go and something that I can afford? I am a divorced mother and may go with my cousin and her 2 kids, haven't decided yet.

  1. I would probably wait a few years because my parents took me on a cruise when I was very young around there age and I barely remember anything about the cruise at all. As I got older I appreciated it more, and became less of a pain in the butt to my parents, and I got to enjoy the cruise more. I think the kids would be way to much of a handful to take on a cruise. They do have wonderful kids programs though. If you decided to go, Carnival has excellent fairs, and usually the third and fourth passenger are discounted, like $199 per person or child, when the adult fare is say $499 a person or something. It just depends on what the cruise and what destination and etc. I would say try out a 4 or 5 day cruise to see if you like it, and I would go somewhere say the bahamas because thats always a fun cruise. They have numerous cruises that leave out of Miami that go to Nassau and Key West which are nice and then their own private island. Miami is a very crowded cruise port but they do a good job making sure you get to where you need to go. I would definitely say look into contacting a travel agent and then check out some cruises on Carnival. Good Luck.

  2. Royal Caribbean has amazing kids programs. When I went on my first cruise my little brother looooved the programs and begged to stay out as late as possibel everynight. There at the perfect age to start cruiseing. The kid programs are designed for every couple years, like 3-5, 7-9, 11-13, ect.

Plus there is a ton of stuff for you to do.

If you take a 3 or 4 night cruise to the Bahamas. thats a great start. You'll find the best deals in the fall, even though it is hurrican season I've never had a problem going then.

talk to a couple local travel adents. they'll help you every step of the way.

    Have fun!

  3. Carnival and Disney are the top two choices for family's with kids. Both these cruise lines specialize in cruising with kids and the prices are good, cheaper on carnival, though. Go to vacations to go web site and you will see a 90 day ticker with great prices. Kids would enjoy the Caribbean or Mexico the best because most kids love the sand and the beaches.

  4. Carnival Cruises are great for all family members. Not to mention that they have a sort-of kid care program that engage the kids for a few hours each day so the parents can do stuff without them. I've been on 4 and I'm going on my 5th net January.

They have cruises that are 3 days, and they have 4 days cruises, and 5 day, and 7 days, and 14 days. They have reasonable prices. Check out their website.

  5. Carnival Cruise Lines is your best bet.  I have cruised with them twice and am booked for another.  Last year my husband and I went on a 5 day cruise for $300 each during the 1st week of May.  3rd and 4th guests will be cheaper and can sometimes go for $199 on a 5 day.  If you depart out of Florida then you can get good deals on 7 day cruises for about $450-$500. Shop around on the Carnival Website.  You can usually get resident rates, military rates, or find deals depending on the month of travel. Look through the specials.

Carnival has great programs for children.  Camp Carnival will entertain them all day with crafts, games, parties, and even slumber parties in their pjs while the parents are having fun at night in the adult only areas.  Carnival is very kid friendly and family orientated.  Each Carnival Ship has their famous waterslide.  Kids and adults both love this. The kids will be able to make alot of friends onboard, yet you usually are not overrun by children like on Disney.

Disney is a great line but I would not reccomend it to you.  They are VERY expensive. I went on Disney when I was younger (we got it free through the Make A Wish Foundation, otherwise we would not be able to afford it) and I still have my ticket from 2001.  For a 4 day cruise my ticket (a 15yr old) cost $1300.  So now you see what I mean.

Stick with Carnival.  I love them!  They will show you all a good time without emptying your bank account.

Please check out their website for other helpful information and to check dates and prices. You can also book online.  5 day cruises require a $200 deposit per person and 7 day cruises require a $250 deposit per person.  You can pay out your cruise unless you are booking one that leaves within 70-90 days.  Bon Voyage and I hope all this helped.  Have a wonderful time on your cruise and I am sure you will enjoy Carnival!

  6. disney?

  7. ROYAL CARIBBEAN!!! My kids love RCI it is a great cruise ship and its fun for parents and kids of all ages! Their Adventure Ocean youth program keeps all kids 3-17 entertained. As for cost RC isn't too bad for all thats included but you may want to check around on their site for deals and other things. If you are looking for cheap you might try some of the smaller companys. But i am not sure about the quality. I have never expirenced a Carnival cruise but i have heard MANY people talk about the bad expirences they had aboard Carinval so for the money i wouldn't take the chance. But agian i am not sure and havent expirenced it myself! Hope you are able to find one and have a great time!
