If you are going to or coming from the U.S., the first thing you want to do is make sure the program is CSIET listed (www.csiet.org). If it is not  it can lead to problems - especially in receiving credit for your trip.

Chances are, you have exchange students in your school right now, so you should check with your counselor and see what programs he/she recommends. A program is only as good as its local representatives. Generally, AFS, Aspect, Rotary and YFU are reliable everywhere; ASSE in most places; and AYUSA/INTRAX has problems in many places.
