We are starting up a game night with about 3-4 other couples. What are so good fun board games either to play on teams or on your own?

  1. Pictionary is great to play with couples!  25 Words or Less is a good board game, and an oldie but goody, The Game of Life can be funny with couples since it take you through life (getting married, having twins! etc).  Also anything Scene It is fun, but it is played via DVD.

    Have fun! :)

  2. I highly recommend a game called "Time's Up".  It's a commercial version of the public domain game, Celebrities.

The idea is that you get cards that have famous people on them.  In Round 1, you can do whatever it takes to describe the celebrity (think Pyramid).  This goes on until all the celebrities are guessed.  In Round 2, you use the same cards, but only 1 word can be used (think Password).  Finally, in Round 3, you must get your partner to name the person without any words at all (think Charades).

While it doesn't seem like it, this game is always good for tons of laughter, as invariably everyone knows the celebrity except the person trying to guess.

  3. The best game I've ever played in a group is called Guesstures.  It's like charades with timing and points.  The longer it goes on, the more competitive everyone gets!  All of my friends love it and it's a great game to play with a big group or a small group.

  4. Scattergories, Balderdash, Probe, Nameburst, Clue, Parcheesi? Lots of good ones out there!

  5. cranium makes the best games.

they have this one call Cranium family fun edition, my friends and I can play that game for hours and hours.

another great couples game is called Hit or miss. it is kind of like a categorizes game, it is very fun.

    apples to apples

    battle of the sexes

    pop 5 from cranium

    in a pickle

    buzz word

those are just a few that my husband and i love to play. we often have couples game night and those ones listed above are the biggest hits. yes i know you may not have heard of them before, but they are really worth the buy. you will have loads of fun, and the rules on each game are really simple too.

  6. scattergories,outburst,pictionary

  7. That depends on your idea of fun... if you like party games, Cranium, Wits & Wagers, Pitchcar,  & Balderdash are all pretty good.

For good negotiation games, Lifeboats, Settlers of Catan (with 5-6 player expansion), and  Bohnanza are great games.

If you want more of a strategy feel,  Alhambra, Diamant (or Incan Gold), That's Life, Winner's Circle, Carcassonne, Loot, Fearsome Floors, or Pickomino are all good choices.

One last idea... Shadows Over Camelot.  Up to 7 players play together to beat the game.. you all win or lose as a team. The catch is that one of your teammates MAY be a traitor who's trying to make the team lose.

    Have fun!
