http://www.funorb.com/ has tons of free games, while you can become a member for 3 dollars a month to get really good bonuses on the game. Has no spyware or viruses, and you don't have to download anything but java, which you probally already have. Anyways, if you like strategy and hitting people, try arcanists, probally the most popular game on there.

I like www.gsn.com (it's game show network) because you can chat and play games for free. If you want to play for money, you can, but that's optional. All you have to do is get a screenname. If you're around 9-12 years old, I'd recommend www.millsberry.com because it's more of a kid-friendly fun website. You also might want to consider Club Penguin at www.clubspenguin.com .
