  1. their are some low cost guitars out their that are relay good . you will not find a named brand guitar at that price. but can find some real nice high quality knock offs. check the links out hear. note if you buy a guitar from the net you will have to take it to your local music store for setup. but i highly recommend the guitars hear ant these links.

  2. I would say none. Better save up some more money.

  3. Expect to spend between $250-300 for a decent beginner level guitar.

Occasionally, Guitar Center will have a clearance sale and you might be able to get a guitar for less than $200 but IMO, the ones out there that regularly retail for less than $150 aren't very good.  They generally sound tinny, they generally don't stay in tune very well, and they're made of low-grade components and materials with poor workmanship.

And DON'T buy a guitar online through the Internet.  You need to look at, try out and listen to a bunch of different guitars up close and in person in a real music store to find the one that best suits you, feels good in your hands, and sounds good to you.  You can't do that through a website.

And Costco, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Sam's Club are not good places to buy guitars either. They have cheap instruments and none of the sales people knows the first thing about guitars and can't answer any of your questions.

Go to a real music store. Take a guitar playing friend with you.  Look at and try out a bunch of guitars, find 2 or 3 or 4 that feel good when you hold them.  Get your friend, or one of the store's sales people, to play each of those 2 or 3 or 4 guitars for you while you listen with your back turned.  The one with the sound you love best is the one you want.  Remember -- you're going to be practicing and listening to this instrument a LOT -- so be sure it has a sound you love to hear!

  4. no such thing, unless your real lucky, it was 1982 a yard sale in Greensboro NC while I was in the USAF, something glimmered in the pile that made me stop, OH my! a 1960 Gibson Byrdland, $100 bucks, we've been in love ever sence!
