  1. evergreen clematis are nice. they bloom all summer and have white blooms that are sometimes fragrant. it is an evergreen hence its name and grows fast so make sure you cut it back in the spring so it doesnt hang moe than 5 inches over the basket. it is cold tolleant to zone 7 or to winter lows of a maxinum of 0 degrees, but since it is exposed to all temperatures it is cold tollerant to zone 8b or temps of 15 degrees if kept in a hanging basket.

some other good ones are climbing roses. many cold tolleant to zone 5 or -20 degrees and about -10 in a pot. losses leaves in the fall leaving thorny sticks in your pot. then in spring begins to bloom. cut back in early spring just before it actively grows and just after leaves appear

good luck and hope this helps

  2. try some candytuft w/ white flowers(iberis) or alyssum compacta w/ yellow flowers.
