I like things like harry potter and star wars. I also play a lot of soccer, and have a dog and 3 hermit crabs. But I still have time on my hands, and suggestions? I like the idea of cooking and crafting to.

  1. Read Twilight.

  2. Geeeeze... hobbies are pastimes.

You mention crafting.  I like model railroading, which requires knowledge of history, skill in recreating miniature life-like scenes, understanding of business (I create "switch lists" and all of my cars are individually numbered correctly so no two are alike).  It is not like a train around a Xtimas tree by any means, and it is fun!

Others like building very realistic radio-controlled model aircraft.  One guy when I was at Fort Ord during basic training in 1971 had built a VERY realistic actual four-engine radio-controlled model of a B-17 bomber that actually dropped parachutes or mock-bombs by radio control, which wing span was about nine feet!  It was SO real looking!  It had that actual multi-engine sound when it flew, too!

Some crafting can be hobbies or it can be what the Infernal Revenue dis-Service calls a "professional hobby", such as making jewelry, making leather work such as belts, wallets, purses and even full-size riding saddles.

You mention cooking.  I do not cook as a hobby but you can!  Experimenting with new ethnic foods, new recipes, in fact, changing recipes to suit your individual tastes and then making a new recipe may result in your publishing a book if you are good at it!

Then there is collecting things for a hobby.  I dislike collecting insects and other living things that must be killed, but people do that.  Some people collect leaves of species of plants in different areas.

Some people are historians, documenting witnessing accounts from people on local histories that may disappear when people die off from one generation to another.  Some people also like to specialize in photographing perspective scenes that are historic and are obliterated with changes of development.

I WOULD SAY that anything that is fun and is not occupational is a hobby.  So actually, jogging for health CAN be a hobby as well, if a person finds that to be fun.  Find something fun that interests you, and that is a legitimate hobby.  It's all up to you which is "in the eye of the beholder"!  If someone were to give me a ten mile long railroad for free, I would gladly operate it as a business that would actually be my hobby, although, I also realize that the safety and economics of my operating that actual railroad would require an effective dedication on my part!  But it still would be fun enough for me to think of it as a hobby!

  3. baking is fun.  You can build models of airplanes and boats.  You can make sculptures out of hardware.  You know nuts screws, bolts and washers.  You can use a hot glue gun to put them together.  It does not cose much for a glue gun.
