What are some good home theater speakers???

Question

I want to get some new home theater set. What are some good high qauilty brands out there other than bose. I was thinking about JBL for speakers. I love bass so what is a good subwoofer. Also i was thinking about getting two subs. The speakers would get most use from high action movies and games. Right now i have a Yamshs HRT-5935 receiver. Should i keep it or get a new one.

Depending on the layout of your room one sub will be enough, if properly set up. JBL is a decent choice, as well as Klipsch ( I only like their ref series though). But you next question begs that you listen to the speakers with the amp you intend to use.

I agree with 42.  However, Klipsch will soon be replacing their reference line(according to their rep).  Kilpsch speakers do rock. Also check out Polk Audio and Definitive Technology for movie speakers.  If you want to do two subs, the Definitive Technology towers speakers each have a built in 8" powered subwoofer.  

I would upgrade the receiver to something that can do all the high resolution audio formats available from Blu-ray(Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio).  Try the harman kardon AVR-254 or AVR-354.  The Denon 1909 is awesome as well. All of these have ample connectivity opportunities.

Matt has good choices for ya. Listen to all and decide. Dont go with two subs. Hard to set up correctly. One good sub is all you need. Good luck.

You are smart to avoid Bose (they're c**p at high prices.)   You're best best is to buy internet direct brand speakers and subs.  They rival most anything at stores for the same price point.  Check out sites like SVSound.com and Hsuresearch.com and AV123.com for some great speakers and subs.

Store bought, I would look at speakers like Definitive Technology, Klipsch and Mirage.  No sub in a store can match a sub like the SVS or Hsu, so i couldn't recoomend any store bought sub in good taste.
