  1. LONDONER HERE

LIVE OUT OF THE CENTRE AND GET THE TUBE IN MUCH CHEAPER, HOTELS THIS AREA VERY EXPENSIVE

  2. The royal national is not in Southampton row,  it's in Bedford way off Russell square.

Blooms Hotel, Montague st, off Russell square. WC1

County  Hotel, upper woburn Place  WC1

    Generator Hotel, Tavistock place, WC1

    Bedford Hotel, Southampton row  WC1

Teddy, I'm not having it my way, that's where it is, all i am doing is giving out the correct information, and not misleading people.

  3. I am not sure what you mean by reasonably priced. US state department rates are 1750GBP (including tax) for ten nights in London. It is often very difficult to get that rate in that part of town.

    =========================

The 4 star Radisson Edwardian Mountbatten Hotel is probably your best bet for location and comfort. It's about 150 yards from Shaftsbury Avenue. It might be a little out of your expense account budget. If you are willing to stay in a small room with a single bed they had 10 day rates for about

1,110 + 194.25 (taxes) GBP . A normal size room is much more.

    --------------

Travel Lodge (Covent Garden) is a good business hotel and it's base rate is about 1030GBP for ten days. There are multiple surcharges if you want breakfast, wireless, etc.

    --------------

Seven Dials Hotel is a much cheaper budget hotel in the same neighborhood as the Radisson. Because it is inexpensive it is often full. Rooms are about 850GBP for ten days.

    --------------

The Strand Palace Hotel is on "The strand". It has good reasonably priced rooms for business stay and a central location just a few blocks south of Covent Garden. It's right across the street from the Savoy Hotel. It's probably the largest mid-priced hotel in central London. It's old and the rooms are small, but you can't beat the location.

Figure on a walk of 700-100 yards. Single rooms were about 850 pounds (including tax) for a 10 day stay. I should warn you that a "standard single" in this hotel is sort of like an army barrack. Go up to a "club single" or standard double if possible.

    ---------------

There is a reasonably priced group of business hotels called Thistle hotels with a number of places in central london. Bloomsbury Park, and Thistle Bloomsbury are probably less expensive and within easy walking distance.

  4. I could not agree more with previous answers that any hotel in that area is unlikely to be 'resonably priced' especially at this time of year.

This has long been identified as a market need and there are lots of hotels right near tube stations about 20-30 mins from the centre of town.

Don't forget London is the 2nd most expensive city in the world !

  5. Shaftsbury Avenue [ near Piccadilly Circus ]  and Covent Garden are good areas and there some alternatives in the 4 and 5 star brackets, listed here :

The only advise i can give is find the highest star ratings with the lowest prices, by using the filters on he search results. Then use the maps to ensure the locality is suitable.

A 10 minute walk in the area will cover a lot of options

  6. There are so many hotels in London that there are bound to be several within walking distance to wherever you need to be.

There is a great website for looking for bargains that I've used, it searches all the other major travel/hotel sites so takes some of the leg work out of it. (and there's reviews too, although always best to cross reference with tripadvisor)

Just did a search for you and there are well over 200+  3/4/5 * hotels in the centre.

    Hope this helps.

  7. There are quite a few but i wouldn't call them reasonably priced, it depends on what you want to pay.

There is a hotel called The Royal National which is on Southampton Row London, which i believe is about 70.00 quid a night not sure if thats single or double, and would be about 15 mins walk to covent garden from the hotel.

London is expensive and hotels particularly so. Perhaps try a young persons hostel to start off with

stepney fine have it your way.
