What are some good icebreakers?

i need to have an idea of what to say during an awkward silence.

Are you looking for a way to make chit-chat, or for a way to bring up and market/advertise your business in a conversation?  If it's the latter, it would help us to know what type of business you are in.  

Generically speaking, think about your biggest selling points and work them into the conversation.

Example:  If you are selling investment or savings plans, and the conversation turns to children (as it very often does!), you could say something like, "We started saving for Johnny's college last year, so it'll be paid for by the time he's 18."
