Question:

What are some good ideas for a trip to Ireland?

Does anyone have any suggestions for places, or landmarks to see in Ireland? We'll be there for a week, possibly longer. Has anyone had any experience renting out a castle? I heard that something you can do there, and we have a fairly good-sized group. I checked a website that rents some out, and it seemed like a pretty cool thing to do, but I'd like to hear from anyone that has actually done it to know if it would be worth it.

It doesn't have to be just about the castles. Any suggestions on where to go, what to check out, where to stay (and so forth) would be appreciated.

  1. hey what about trip to my country..indonesia!!! is safe know..we have a lot of best place in tourism..i will accompany you hehehe... we have bali..the best beach in world

  2. If you enjoy natural beauty and Irish music, you'll probably like Doolin on the west coast. Very small town with lovely gardens, many pubs with nightly music, and the place we stayed had a great view of the Cliffs of Moher. Easy driving to the Burren and scenic Connemara as well.

If you're more into urban, we also loved Dublin.

  3. Don't forget to see Blarney Castle and kiss the blarney stone.  Legend has it that once you do, you'll be able to talk to anyone.  They also have a great gift shop there called Blarney Woolen Mills http://www.blarney.com/ .

Take rides thru the countryside to see the cottages and life of real Irish people.  Don't forget to go see "The Quiet Man's" cottage.

  5. Don't forget Northern Ireland! Do forget about the "troubles" though - I lived in Belfast for 25 years and wasn't shot or blown up once :0) The Antrim coast is unmissable and the nice thing about Ireland as an island is that it is small and you can see a lot in a short time. Have fun!

  6. Hey...Dublin is like any other capital city in Europe but does offer lots of things for tourists to do...popular are the open bus tours around the city and they will bring you to the major sights in Dublin, they have a hop-on hop-off service so you can get off at a sight and then get back on a later bus and continue the tour.  In dublin you cant miss the Guiness Storehouse, its in the city centre and you get to see how guiness is made and how things in the factory have changed over the years, you can either do the tour yourself or you can get a tour guide.  At the end of the tour you can get a free pint of Guiness in the Round Bar which is ontop of the factory with all glass and you can see out over Dublin.  You can also visit the Kilmainham Jailhouse, this is where many of the people who fought for Irish independence were imprisoned most notably Eamon DeValera, The republic of Irelands first president, Its really a touching tour.  Its also possible to visit the Phoenix Park which is the largest enclosed park in Europe.  Trinity College is right bang in the city centre and there you can see the Book of Kells, an amazing Manuscript dating back hundreds of years.  Temple Bar is quite famous for the nightlife and there youl find some traditional Irish bars.

Outside Dublin you have to visit Connemara, its beautiful and scenice and its my opinion what the tourists expect Ireland to be like.  Its located in Galway..from dublin there are plenty of buses, trains or you can even hire a car.  Depending on what method you take your looking between 2.5 and 4hours travel..but the journey is quite scenic along the way. From Galway I reccommend you take the bus tour to the Cliffs of Mohar, honestly I havent seen anything so breathtaking in my life, they really are amazing.  The bus tour brings you along to some castles as well along the way.  In Galway I reccommend you stay in either the Jurys Inn in the city centre, the Great Southern in the city centre or The Great Southern in Salthill which is right beside the beach.

Further south is Ireland is a tour called the Ring of Kerry, its a driving tour but it brings you past many wonderful sights..depending on how long you spend there its can last anything from 4hours to a whole day!

Renting a castle in Ireland is expensive, I personally havent rented one myself but price wise your looking at 1200 for the whole castle for one night, and some of them require you to stay at least three nights.  if you really want the castle experience then Drumoland Castle in Kerry is amazing, its a renovated castle and is know one of Irelands most famous Hotels, many famous people have stayed there.

Youl meet lots of tourists in Ireland, no matter what time of the year you come at..and from them too youl get tips of what to see and do.  theres so much more than what ive outlined here..these are just my favourites.  have a fantastic time!
