  1. You could top the cakes with little trains or cars, or edible icing pictures.

  2. I did a bug party for my sons last birthday. I made little bugs out of plastic icing like ladybugs, and worms etc (not difficult to do at all) then just ice the cupcake green or brown(chocolate) and put a bug on each cupcake,it looks adorable. Just arrange them on lifted cake platter just to give them some height.

  3. i agree about the Blues Clue's paw idea! It was in one of the Blue's Clues books, maybe on the show one time? But you make a 2 layer 8" round cake for the middle and then you put a few cupcakes around it for the rest of the paw. Ice it blue and put his name on it. I did this for 2 parties I held and it was a hit. The remaining cupcakes were just nicely set out on a tray. Grocery stores lately have been making any shape and then icing (w/ TONS of icing) the tops to fill it completely in. You could do that and make a #1. Good luck.

  4. those are cute. i think just putting specically decorated cup cakes on a clean white plate looks the best.

the decoration of the cup cakes is more important.

  5. at my cousins wedding reception, they had a small cake, and next to it the cupcake stand. the regular cake was sooo pretty no one wanted to ruin it, but they cupcakes were perfect. and they also had some without frosting!!!

if i had a stand for them i would use it every chance i got.

  6. Simple ABC blocks, rattles or diapers etc. You know? I usually like plain & simple stuff, for instance depending if its a boy/girl I'd usually use light pastel colors for the frosting or white if you like and just place on top the individual cupcakes whatever your child likes, such as favorite cartoons (blues clues, Dora, Diego whichever) My best bet to you is to go to the 99 cent stores. You'll find alot of great deals out there and great for the budget!

  7. did you know that apple trees grow apples?

  8. Some type of tiered stand would work- that way you could use it for parties where you aren't serving cupcakes.

Something like this... even though the auction is closed it gives you an idea.

happy birthday to your little one!

  9. if he likes blues clues, you could have a paw with separate cakes for the pawpads

  10. You can hire them otherwise, in this video from http://DIY-WeddingCupCakes.com show you how to make your own one low cost.

We followed their way and we made our own one for our wedding. Easy...

  11. i have also been at a party whee they took these bright colored cupcakes and put a small number (in your case 1) made of cookie on them trust me they look adorable

  12. i have one of those and yeah i've taken it out once.

cucpake displays can be easy, if you dont have a set theme, try baking the cupcakes in icecream cones, and decorate the top with frosting and sprinkles! its a cute display on its own.

otherwise, stack some old fashioned baby blocks at different levels and place the cakes atop. decorate the cakes according to the colors.

  13. Those cupcake tiers were on sale recently, and very inexpensive (at Kroger's).  He's only 1, so you have many years ahead of you to use them at birthday parties!  Or, parties of your own:) ... On the cover of the April 1 issue of Family Circle magazine, they had cupcakes decorated like different dogs!  They were cute faces, and easy to do, with the directions in the magazine.  I'm sure you could find that article on-line at their website

  14. decorate each  cupcake  as part of a circus train

    your sons is the engine

  15. food network.com always has good ideas.
