I'm really looking on finding a future caereer. Now, I'm only a freshman in high school but I'd like to have things figured out. I currently live in the United States but Once I graduate (wheather I go to college or not) I'm moving back home to the Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico.

I'm not quite sure what kind of job I could get down there becuase the poverty in most places in the Dom. Rep. Is VERY bad! And I would like a descent paying job that suites me.

I'm very interested.......more like OBSESSED.... with my nationalities and ethnic and cultural backgrounds and things like that and lately I've realized that something I would be truely settled with would have to do with that.

I would just like a few job names and descriptions that would have to do with dealing or studying peoples ehtnicities & cultural backgrounds. And the type of job must be available in the Dom. Rep.

-Thank You

  1. what about teaching English as a second language.  You have to study a lot about cultural and language backgrounds, as well as socioeconomic factors that affect learning.  You can work anywhere in the world and get to meet people from everywhere. It's really interesting and if you study Linguistics in your subjects I think you would enjoy that.

  2. Well, as an anthropologist, you would study all those things that relates to human. Its sounds like you want to be a cultural anthropologist or go into ethnic studies. There is many opportunities in those field. You can work with a human resource or public relation firm to help business and government offices better cater to the needs of people by studying their ethnic background. You can also be a field researcher and live with those people and find out how you can protect and better them without infringing on their culture. Heck it might put you into a political position.

  3. Psychology would get you more pay, I bet. Social services would be helpful but the pay isn't there.  Good luck.  I was in Puerto Rico and my Psychology teacher at school had to have a 2nd job working at the Post Office.  The Post Office is like one of the best paying jobs there.  Just to give you an idea of what you may be up against.
