My past work experience I was a hairstylist for several years...I have been thinking about changing careers though. What are some good (entry level) jobs with a decent salary for a woman with a high school diploma. (A job that could possibly be a career would be nice.) I'm not concerned about having a job with a very large salary....I do want a job where I can live comfortably and continue to focus on saving money for my future.

  1. Well you could go the retail route.  Work as a cashier, work up to supervisor to asst. manager to store manager.

Places like Office Max or Office Depot are good.

You want to stay away from Target, Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond or Best Buy.

Those outlets run their managers raggid.  My husbans wors for omax and they treat their managers good, ODepot I worked for 5 years (2000-2005) and the asst managers are still there (store manager was promoted). So they like it.

My husband worked for Bed Bath and it is the same across the country..when he was training for another job he met someone who also left BBB from the east coast When my husband asked him how he liked it there the guy replied "I thought slavery was abolished'

They throw money at you and expect you to work 12+ hour days and when you try to leave they ask 'where are you going?"

Also Bed Bath is mandatory 10 hour days for their management I thini it is the same at Target and Walmart

Omax and Depot want their employees to be happy. 8 hour work day

  2. I work for JP MORGN CHASE  I have been there 10 years. Go to chase.com then go to careers..depending on where you live where i am at in the south they start off at 10.45 hr. customer call center. Chek it out hope it works out for you.

  3. Seriously mcdonald's or any other fast food chain, even them in the future are asking for more education if you want to work ft.

  4. A sitter makes good money....and they are in great demand.  It only takes a couple weeks classes to be qualified, but demands a person with a good heart.

A sitter will literally sit with an elderly person while their family members are at work, and tend to their needs.  They will be a companion to them.  They help them to and from the bathroom, change diapers if needed, get their lunch, and watch tv with them.  They are paid a little more than $10 an hour - and are treated like family.

A CNA license (nursing aide) is needed to do this in many states.  Even that is very inexpensive to get and only takes a little over a month to get.
