  1. Any of the Wee Sing collection of songs/music/finger plays are awesome.  They also have the song books available too, so you could utilize that for making song posters/reading readiness activities.  There is even one called Wee Sing & Learn Opposites.  The Wee Sing collection is also available with some great DVDs as well.  One of my old favorites being Grandpa's Magical Toys.

There are 2 newer items out there that are DVD/CD combos - one is called Here Come The ABC's and the other is called Here Come the 123's.  Both are adorable, and available on Amazon.

Disney has some great collections of classic Children's Songs as well.  The name is currently escaping me, but there is also a fantastic Hip/Hop/Dance CD for young kids that takes classic children's poems/tunes and freshens them up.  I think that one might be called Dana's Rockin' Nursery Rhymes, and a Mother Goose Rap cd... I wish I could remember the names, because they are wonderful for that age!

    Good Luck!

  2. it's actually recommended that children this age not watch much tv, even if it is educational. the american academy of pediatrics says not to do it!

    TV and Toddlers

It may be tempting to put your infant or toddler in front of the television, especially to watch shows created just for children under age two. But the American Academy of Pediatrics says: Don't do it! These early years are crucial in a child's development. The Academy is concerned about the impact of television programming intended for children younger than age two and how it could affect your child's development. Pediatricians strongly oppose targeted programming, especially when it's used to market toys, games, dolls, unhealthy food and other products to toddlers. Any positive effect of television on infants and toddlers is still open to question, but the benefits of parent-child interactions are proven. Under age two, talking, singing, reading, listening to music or playing are far more important to a child's development than any TV show.
