Question:

What are some good mythical creatures that are useful in an urban fantasy novel?

I have faeries, demons, gargoyles, vampires/werewolves (I hate using these, I usually avoid even the mention of them in my novel because of the popular book Twilight), and I know I can use angels if I want to.

Also, for anybody who believes I have skipped over mermaids, I haven't. Mermaids are a subsection of the faeries.

Thanks :D

  2. No one seems to of mentioned a Banshee (can't spell it)

    Or a Grifin?

    Ork?

  3. An Ouroborus - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouroborus

  4. Medina

    ployphemus

  5. Centaur. Cyclops. Dragon. Dwarf. Gremlin. Golem. Manticore. Siren. Phoenix. Sphinx.

  6. gryphons

    dragons

    unicorns

  7. What about nymphs? Or would you consider them faeries?

Satyrs are cool (they're like fauns).

Griffins are hardly ever used, so they might be fun to work with. The head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion.

    Goblins?

    Banshees?

    Imp? Pixie? Sprite?

    That's all I got. Sorry if I didn't help.

  8. Well there is the whole wizard/witch thing which can be over done unless you make it unique. Also how about the half man, half horse thing?

  9. Things that elude a name, that can hide in shadows and between cobblestones. Things without a form or with many. Old creatures of the deepest tradition and new ones whose appearances aren't yet familiar. Monsters and beings made of light.
