  1. Blue Magic

    Stylicstics

    Delphonics

  2. The Platters, Dixie Cups (great doo w*p songs like "chapel of love" and "my boyfriends back"...my mom raised me on this music lol)

Beatles, Pink Floyd, Carpenters, beach boys

My mom is 55 and she loves all of those (she especially loves doowop and 60's alternative)

  3. If she's 54, she was born in 1954.  She would have been 16 in 1970.  There are several various artists compilations out there (many are cheap, even cheaper if bought used).

Try Elton John, Paul McCartney/Wings, Carly Simon, Jim Croce, the Eagles, Sly & the Family Stone, Three Dog Night.  This is that time frame between the Beatles breakup and the dawn of disco.

  4. Oldies for anyone 54 years of age would be 1968 – 1980 ballpark. The real easy way to get songs she knows from this era is to go to the following link:

    http://www.ntl.matrix.com.br/pfilho/html...

This site has all of the songs from 1930 to 1999 and how they fared on the Billboard Charts.  Select your years from the list on the left.  Once you see the list of songs for any given year, you will note a number to the right of each song.  This number denotes the peak position for the song on the Billboard charts for that  year.  If you confine yourself to songs that peaked in popularity anywhere from 1 to 10 on the charts, I’m sure your mother-in-law will recognize and LOVE ALL of them Anna!

  5. Go with Diana Ross & The Supremes. They had 10 number 1 hits from 1964-1967 and popular among women from that era.

    Recommended Songs:
