I am looking into medical transcription, and am considering on-line training colleges. Has anyone taken a medical transcription 'train at home to work at home' course and been successful finding work afterwords?

  1. The Andrews School, M-Tec and Career Step are considered the top 3 programs by most transcriptionists and employers. They all have good reputations and solid programs. I would suggest checking each out and seeing who best meets your needs.

There are of course many other programs out there. Some are newer than others and just don't really have a reputation to check yet. The big thing you have to look at is what training program they use.

You also have to look out for scams, such as companies that claim to train you on the job. Those ones will generally try to sell you their software, and then always say your quality isn't good enough to get paid for. It's pretty sad sometimes how frustrated people get by the scams, especially since other employers won't take it as any sort of experience or training.
