  1. Good places to go to for what? Partying? Sightseeing? Local "fest"s? Well... since it's winter, therearen't going to be much local "Fest"s. There are plenty of those in spring, summer and fall. Look out for the posters that are going to be hung up everywhere. In Würzburg for example, there is going to be "Kiliani", "Mozart-Fest", "Afrika-Festival", "Weinfest", and so on.  Than there is going to be the "Poppenhäuser Bierwoche" in Poppenhausen, which is not far off. There are going to be numerous "Kirchweih"-parties in the small towns and villages all around Schweinfurt. There is going to be "Rakotzy-Fest" in Bad Kissingen in summer. The height of "Fasching" is going to be in February, so there should be a lot to do than. Parades in every town, and of course a lot of drinking and partying in the evening.

On the cultural side: Loads of stuff to see! Würzburg alone has two castles worth seeing, the old "Festung", which features two museums, and the "Residenz", with a UNESCO world historic heritage, the huge fresco on the ceiling over the major stair case and of course the mirror room (Spiegelsaal).  If you care for old castles, go to a tourist information and get some information on those. Or buy a good tourist guide for Germany. You are pretty close to a lot of things worth seeing, e.g. the castle the brothers Grimm lived in (that's in Steinau in Hessen, but still close to Schweinfurt), the Wartburg in Thüringen, Dresden... Look into it, you'll see what I mean. Club-wise: Hm.... Being a local, I'd have to say there isn't all that much compared to big cities. There is, of course, the "East" in Schweinfurt-Hafen, but that is, as we are used to calling it, the toddler-club, seing as all the teenagers go there. Also in Schweinfurt-Hafen is "Suzie Wan's", a nice lounge-kind of club which is fun, but it's rather small. There is the "Rock-Fabrik", which is, you might have guessed, a club for Rock-Fans. In Bad Kissingen, you have the "Look", which is famous with locals, but seeing as it is the only club in B.K. ...

In Würzburg, the "boot" is quite popular. It's a good party, even though if the party is VERY good, you might get wet feet. The "Boot" is exactly what its name suggests, a boat. And yes, it's floating on the river "Main".  And when there are too many people on it, than... well. I'm sure there are other clubs in Würzburg, but seeing that when I went to Würzburg, I met friends and we always went to private parties or student parties, I can't really help you there. Sorry. One note on going out in Germany, though: You go out late! People will START going to clubs at around 11p.m., since clubs are open to about at least 3a.m., most of them until 5a.m.. So entering a club at nine p.m. will be a devastating experiece. People are still at home, or at the movies or stuff and you'll belive you're the only person on earth!

By the way: There are lots of lounges and Cafes people go to before they go to the clubs. Check out the little streets yround the "Rathaus" in Schweinfurt, there are some nice ones there.

Hope you're having fun! Keep save! And remember: No smoking indoors anymore in any club/lounge/bar/cafe/restaurant in bavaria!

  2. As far as nightlife there are a lot of places to go throughout the city. To be honest as long as I have lived here I have not traveled much within the city. I guess there is too much to see everywhere else. You MUST go to Delphi's. It is a Greek Restaurant not too far from Askren Manor, awesome food!

  3. Go to Wuerzburg and to Rothenburg, those are very beautiful cities very near Schweinfurt. ENJOY !!!
