I'm recuperating from a stress fracture from track and field. Doctor said i could swim to keep myself in shape for next season.

I can work on my abs and upper body on my own, but what can i do to keep my legs in shape?

  1. You can simply tread water, and if you are hard core, you can butterfly swim in one place without using your arms, this is where you just simply kick like a dolphin, bobbling up and down in the water.  (warning: this will make you very tired so be careful?)

You can also put on flippers and kick back and forth in the pool with a kickboard or on your back.

This will focus on legs only.

  2. lunges and 6 inches

  3. Do kicking sets using a kickboard at first, then when you know you have good lung capacity, kick underwater with your head down between your arms (your ears should line up with your elbows) in streamline position.

You might also consider focusing your energy on kicking...relax your arms when swimming and kick hard.

Push yourself, to the point where it is uncomfortable but not painful!

Good luck and hope your stress fracture gets better <3
