I am trying to organize a few service projects for the 5th and 6th graders at my church. Any ideas?

  1. - Trash pickups are very positive.

    - Car washes are fun in the summer.

    - Visit a home for the elderly. Let them tell you about themselves. Not as much fun for you, but really brightens their days.

    - Contact Habitat for Humanity and see if they have a project you can help with.

    - Food drive for the local homeless shelter or Food Bank, these are always a great help.

    Good luck!

  2. Clean up trash around your community.

  3. One of the reasons I founded The Shoebox Project <>http://shoeboxproject.org.googlepages.co... is that I hoped it would others to do similar projects in their communities.  A shoebox project would be great fun for your young people, & would help them think of the plights of others not so fortunate.

There is a link of my homepage to a list of suggested items to fill your shoeboxes, & a link to photos.  Two places you can donate your filled shoeboxes are your local women's shelter (for children, teens & adult women) & your county Dept. of Social Services (children & teens), where they can be distributed in emergencies or to foster children.

    Good luck with your projects!
