What are some good programs to remix videos?

I am wondering that because, i am interested in making videos and posting them on youtube.. but i do not know how to remix them!.. like.. put effects and etc.. yeah i know windows movie maker is good. bbuttt.. i thinkkk.. other programs will work better.. PLEASE help out.. it would be nice if you gave me links to sites with programs to remix my videos
