I'm looking for a laptop that has lime wire, microsoft word or works word processor, wifi of course, more than one usb slot, just the basics, nothing extremely fancy. I'm looking for something under $400. Would you recommend the Acer Aspire One? Or something else? Thanks!

  1. go to futureshop they might have something.

  2. Yeah there ok. The only thing is that the laptop will most likly come with Linux. Unless your familiar with linux your going to want to get the windows XP version witch will cost you abit more.

  3. I've seen the Acer Aspire Ones recently on sale for around $400.  Was thinking of buying it but i've read it has a noisy fan issue.  I have read a lot about how loud the fan is. It is so annoying to some people that someone even wrote a program to control the fan. The program allows the user to change the fan settings so it will only come on for shorter periods of time when the internal temp reaches a specific level.  Others have done tweaks to Vista.  The fan noise is like a light hum. I was expecting some full on blast from reports that I read, but other classmates may notice it.  It is almost always on whether the unit is plugged in or not.  You should check it out in the store to see if it's acceptable.

  4. DELL INSPIRON

I used 1420 bougt last year and it works well.
