What are some good reasons to put in an appeal letter for reinstatement?

The first and foremost is to clear your name.

Even if you do not really want to go back to work at that location, clearing up your reputation may avoid being haunted by it later.  Often times a resolution is to drop the "official" reasoning for your break in service and to allow you to resign.  It is far better to have a choice in where you spend your efforts than to be forced out.
