  2. Food (very different from the stereotype French food). Olive oil, grilled rabbit, thyme in profusion, fishes...

Riches... Glittering Cannes with its casinos and its stars, St Tropez where you can have fun all night at have a peek at your favourite star, Antibes where yachts the size of cruisers hog the small harbour...

The old towns. Plenty of medieval and a bit older towns, fortified harbours, castle, houses... Not only on the sea side but in the back country. Enjoy driving on small roads listening to the cicadas and smelling the pine and lavender.

The seaside cliffs (les calanques) between Toulon and Marseille.

The perfume industry in the back country....

Warm sea and sun, roasting on a beach or the deck of a ship and enjoying water sports.

Monaco just next door to spend your hard earned money there while watching hugely rich persons doing it with even more style.

    There's plenty of things.

  3. the south of France is slower. People take more the time to do things and enjoy life.

Rose wine is a great provence thing.

Hanging out at the local cafe and play petanque drinking pastis, and eating olives........ that's the life...........:)

There are tons of stuff in provence especially old villages on top of the mountains, lavender fields, pizzaladiere, pastis......

  4. La Provence is not the Riviera. For people from Provence like me, St Tropez and Monaco is not Provence (although Marseille is).

Provence is worth a visit because of its climate, the beauty of its landscapes and also because it is full of historical sites. You should check especially the Roman sites (Vaison la Romaine, Nîmes, Arles...). Culturally, it is very rich.
