What are some good restaurants in the Los Angeles area?

Question

I'm in Santa Monica, CA for the rest of the summer doing an internship at the arch/engineering firm my dad works for. Tomorrow is my 20th birthday and he says we can go literally anywhere I want for dinner. I'm not at all familiar with the area yet so I don't really know whats there is to choose from. I know I don't want to go anywhere thats back on the East Coast, or any place TOO fancy.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Oh and if they have a web site, that'd be great too..

I don't get out to the west side much anymore but one of my favorite English Pubs is in Santa Monica  called Kings Head. It as great fish & chips!  Also  Fords Filling Station in Culver City (Harrison Ford's son is the chef/owner) is very good.

It's pretty crowded at dinner hours, but that's because it's sooooo yummy!

It's caled Versalles, and it's in culver city!  really good food, service, and atmosphere!

Also PF Changs in Santa monica! yummy!

If you ever travel out of the area, loof up The Elephant Bar! Great place for a dinner party!

wood ranch is really good and not to fancy

hofs hut, all over greater Los Angeles, inexpensive but fairly good food especially the hamburger combo, salad, fries, hamburger and a drink for one price
