  2. I live in London and am lucky to have a job which involves me eating out 2 - 3 times per week on expenses, so over the years I have visited most of Town's best places.  Here are my Top 10 "good" restaurants (in no particlar order):

    1. The g*y Hussar, Greek Street, Soho.  Traditional Hungarian restaurant always busy at lunchtime with politicians and journalists. Fantastic atmosphere.

    2. Rules, Maiden Lane. Claims to be UKs oldest restaurant. Very elegant and a bit pretentious. Mixture of tourists an business people.

    3. The Guinea Grill, Bruton Place, Mayfair.  Old English and old-fashioned - specialises in Steak and game.  Go through the pub into the dining rooms behind.  One of my favourites.

    4. The River Cafe, Hammersmith. Uber trendy full of arty media types and luvvies.

    5. Topo Giggio, Brewer Street, Soho.   Traditional family run Italian basement restaurant.  Busy with the bohemian Soho crowd and theatre goers.  Better for dinner than lunch.

    6. Gran Paradiso, Wilton Road, Victoria. More modern Italian another hang-out for politiians and journalits.

    7. Wiltons, Jermyn Street. The most fantastic fish, game and seafood - very formal, strict dress codes and expensive.

    8. The Seafood and Oyster Bar at Selfridges, Oxford Street.  Totally different from other places on this list - always busy and friendly and ideal for a quick lunch whilst shopping.

    9. The Wolsesly, Piccadilly.   Not the best food in London, but a truely fantastic building.

    10. Picasso Room at L'Escargot, Greek Street, Soho.  Traditional French cuisine from Marco Pierrie White.

Just  a small selection of my own favourite places - hope it helps.

  3. It really depends on what sort of food you like/dislike. Can you give me more info and then I can advise. A really good place and off the beaten track is the Babylon restaurant in Kensington. Do a search for it and you'll find directions for it. It's amazing with a lovely garden complete with flamingoes!

  4. There are so many great restaurants in London! You don't give any clue to your tastes or budget, but this link will give you a list of 'good value' and popular restaurants in London http://trustedplaces.com/search/places?t...
