  2. huh, i have asics too and they give me bad blisters as well! i will have to look into this.. i am also in cross country, or was until i started having some leg problems..but anyways the first year i think i used my mom's tennis shoes. either new balance, or nike. i never got any blisters until these asics during my second year. so thanks for pointing that out! i may have to get some new ones too- i thought it was just me

  3. The best advice I can give is to go to a store that is owned and operated by a runner.  The best shoe brand has a lot to do with what type of foot you have and your running style.  After experiencing leg and back pain after a year of running, I was recommended to a store owned by a podiatrist/runner.  I learned quite a bit and am now pain free when I run.

  4. Umm......question...how long/how many miles have you run in your Asics? Most shoes have a limit in amount of miels they can take, and after that the cushion deteriorates and that's what causes blisters and foot pain. So, that may be the problem, not the shoe.

And, if you personally don't liek Asics, then you could maybe buy a brand that you have heard of and trust. If you cna't think of any, here's a list of shoes I personally have tried and I like:

    1)Addidas

    2)Nike

    3)Saucony

    4)Brookes

    5)Under Armour

    6)Reebok

    7)New Balance

Those should satisfy you, however everyone has their own preferences, so I suggest you go to a sports, running, or shoe store and try on the shoes that are made for running and you like.

Make sure that the shoes are not too tight or too loose. If the shoes are too tight, you may just think"Oh, I'll jsut break them in..." but if they are too tight they can cut off circulation and cause numerous problems.

If they are too big, your ankles will suffer. Your ankles will have to work really hard to keep the shoes on your foot and they will get strained and will probably get injured.

Another thing to look for, is the bottom of the shoes. On good running shoes you shoudl see a lot of "bumps" for contraction and stability. If the bottom of the shoe is just really smooth, it is NOT a good shoe for running. If it's smooth, it can be very slippery on the hard terrain for lile X-Country and hills and anything else.

And, if you want, you could always buy spikes. Track spikes work good for Cross- Country, too. Spikes have the little metal "nails" stuff, that go into the ground and give you a better grip on the ground. The shoes are also EXTREMELY light, and they also really help. However, spikes are NOT good for like pavement or concrete,........that dulls the spikes. SPieks are made to poke into the ground liek dirt and grass and the track lanes.

*Just make sure the shoes have comfotable cushioning and fit you perfectly. Pick the pair you want, a shoe that is good for someone, may not be for someone else. You just have to pick one that satisfies you.

Good Luck on finding the perfect shoes ,and Good Luck with yoru running!
