  1. Putting: Set up 8 balls around a hole 3 feet out, make 100 in a row.

chipping: From how ever far you want, hit 10 chips and get all of them inside of 3 feet before moving on.

pitching: From 15 yards or over, try getting 10 balls in a row inside of 3 feet.

All of these drills are made to "narrow your focus" to help you hit it closer.

Also when you are chipping, pick a spot you want your chip/pitch to land on, have it dime sized so it narrows your focus even more.

  2. Instead of sitting in front of the TV, practice putting in your living room.

Chipping and short game drills are hard to come by.

Mostly you just need to practice more.

I have seen people practice with a whole bucket of balls form one spot, on a prefect lie.

I like to use only two balls, toss them in the rough and practice hitting to a tight pin. Get on some uneven lies too, above and below your feet, down hill, up hill. The harder the better, make yourself concentrate.  When you pull a stupid hard shot off it makes you feel good, and keeps things interesting

  3. Congratulations - you are asking about the most important area of golf.

Here's what I did two years ago.  I don't have a course nearby (30+ miles away) and I needed to work on my stroke.

I purchased a "no bogey cup" ($9 see site below) and a 2 foot by 8 foot piece of indoor/outdoor carpet.

I set the cup on one end and putt from 3 feet away with 3 balls (all 3 will fit in the cup). I putt until I make 9 in a row.

Then I move back a foot and do 9 in a row again.

Then one more time from 5 feet.

I do not stop until I make 9 in a row. If I miss from 4 or 5 feet I go back to the 3 foot and start over. Having to make 9 in a row helps apply pressure similar to that you experience in a round of golf.

This has helped by putting stroke tremendously. 3-4 footers are no sweat.

    Good luck.

  4. just chip and putt. a good putting tip is to lay a club down in line with the hole or target break. put a ball next to it and putt.

  5. practice makes perfect

  6. practice chipping with just right toes on the ground , right foot of ground forces weight to stay left side . chip with just your left hand and arm keeping left wrist flat and shaft behind arm . do these drlls toghter would be best sine niether require ball . pitching this time of year outside would do more harm than good sine you would be adjusting for wet weather . try swinging waist high to waist high if you have a large basement wiffle balls old chair and off you go just keep club head accelerating for pitch shots good time of the year to find lob wedge cheap 58 to 61 degree loft . got a hybird great around the greens enjoy  putting drop a foot long ruler squqre along a pice og artifical turf use the ball of 6 inch mark equal back and through motions sounds strange but will work . they are time tested

  7. this is a great putting drill for multiple people that we used to do on my high school golf team:

place three tees in a line each one further away from the hole than the other one. the first one should be three or four feet. the next at 6-10 feet and the last a 12-15 feet. you can change this around a little if u want. each tee is a hole and you will play each tee six times making eighteen holes. the closest tee is par one and the other two are par 2. first everyone plays the first tee and keeps track of their score as either even, +1, +2, etc depending on how many putts it took for them to get it into the hole. do the same for the other two tees. then repeat this six time. whoever has the lowest score is the winner.

while on the driving range (also learned this on the team):

play horse like you may have done on the basketball court with a friend. the first person calls a shot and then takes it. the next person tries the same shot. whoever does the shot better doesnt get the letter. whoever spells horse(or another word you have chosen) loses.

on the chipping green (again high school team):

get some string ( kite string works fine) and make a minimum of three rings around the hole. the first 1-2 feet in diameter, the second 4-6 feet in diameter and the last one 8-10 feet in diameter. play with a friend. each chip three or four balls at the target from somewhere around the green.

designate point values to each of the rings and in the hole.for example:

    in the hole: 10 points

    smallest ring: 5 points

    medium ring: 3 points

    largest ring: 1 point

whoever ends with the most points wins.

    Have fun!!!
