I am an intermediate level skimmer and I am looking for a fiberglass or carbon skimboard that is no more than $180. I also want to find a skimboard that will not have pressure dings from over time use. I am 130lb and I am 5ft/6in. I first started with a wooden skimboard I made myself and now I am looking for a better board to skim the waves and do sand skimming to.

  1. I'd make sure that anything you buy doesn't have a foam core.  I can't imagine a wood board getting pressured dinged from your heels or the like.  If any of the materials are hollow or foam core with fiberglass on the outside (think surfboard), its gonna get pressure dings.  But, consider these boards to be more inline with a surfboard where surfers like the "flex" of a board when riding waves.

Flex can be good, but durability might be an issue.  h**l, just make another one....check out Swaylocks.com, maybe something there for you.
