Global warming will probably solve most of it. eventually. we will starve ourselves to the point that the supply of resources will be equalized. There is no realistic way to solve the crisis of overpopulation short of being inhumane. But as much flak as this will bring me, I would support removing unproductive members of society, as this would make the transition a lot smoother, and eliminate the need for a surplus. Many societies have tried this, and with fairly successful results

Industrialization and moral maturity are the only permanent solutions. Most European and American cities have declining populations(before immigration is taken into account) while most poor countries have extremely fast population growth.

Quality of life is inversely corrolated with population growth, as counterintuitive as that seems (yes, that is a pre eminent response to the hundred people who will say spread war and disease)

Teaching people the consequence of our not being careful.  In addition to overpopulation it's also important for us to manage our wildlife and other nature.

World-wide birth control would be a good start.  Give people incentives to not have children, instead of the other way around.

The world actually isn't overpopulated.

If you go to the store and still see more than what you need than the world isn't over populated.

However, the world doesn't distribute needs to exist by necessity they do it by capital.

So a large portion of the world, who is without capital, is without needs to suffice existence, and the starve and die.

To limit overpopulation in those areas you needs to in reality educate them. Tell them to slow down, however an obvious opposition to bring up is a lot or third world countries need surplus children to held farm and cook and eat.

But these people need to slow down not stop.

But most importantly these people need to be introduce to jobs, to be able to receive capital to eat and to live.

But another obvious opposition is that most of these people live in corrupt governments and fair share is out of question.

In the end that's all I can say, but I would first endorse condom usage. And there are people who say be fruitful and multiply, but you can't be if there is no fruit.
