Hi I'm a freshman runner in HS, I run the mile and the two mile(with no spikes)

Supposedly I can cut up to 10 secs off my time If I get track spikes. So can anyone recommend me some good spikes for the 1 and 2 mile?

  1. I run the 4 x 800, 1600, 3200, and 5k. I use the Nike Miler for the track events and have had some good results. For the 5k, I use Nike Zoom Forever XC. I wouldn't use the spike plate in a XC event, so if you plan on doing XC as well, get the 5k spikes. Unless you can get two sets.

A good place to look for spikes would be eastbay.com. Make sure you get a mid distance, long distance, or XC spike if you are going to run the mile and up or else you will have some crazy calf pain.

Check out the runnersworld article in the source for some more information.

  2. well for distance runners they make two different kinds of spikes, actually 3. mid-distance (for track), distance spikes (for tracks), and xc spikes. i have a friend who runs everything and he has 3 different pairs of spikes. but not everyone's budget is that flexible. if you do xc as well then i would suggest getting cross country spikes and using them for track as well. other wise if you mainly focus on the mile and 2 mile in track then get distance track spikes, asics work well. or brooks or mizuno. if you go to any good sports store and ask an employee, they will fit your foot for a specific kind. like if you have a flat foot or some other stuff.

    hope this helps!
