Everybody knows the great surfing spots in San Diego, but where are some good, boogie board friendly places to sponge?

  1. Ocean Beach, when I lived down there in the late 80's they had an area reserved for "soft-boards" and swimmers, no surfboards allowed.  I don't know if it's still like that, but the locals were laid back there and it's got a nice little break.

Also, Mission Beach.  Breaks not as good, but there are tons and tons of room, and the board walk there is really really fun.

There's some other "secret spots" down there, but you'll not be welcome with your soft board, way too crowded and a strong locals only mentality.

    Have fun!

  2. Downtown Carlsbad has a lot of sections just for boogie boarding....I go there when I'm not surfing.
