1. First, I skim the text I will read (title, introduction, headings, topic-sentences and conclusion);

2. then, I ask as many questions as I can about each paragraph and write down the answers;

3. then, I read the text once more, focusing on the title (the aim is to justify or explain the title);

4. if necessary, I read it once again as I try to figure out what the author is DOING (Proving a point? Comparing and/or contrasting? Explaining something?, etc.);

5. finally, I write down the main ideas (paying attention to details such as proper names, dates, etc.).
