  1. I just returned from Florence & Rome.  Italy is known for their fine leather goods.  They also have beautiful pashmina's which made excellent gifts and they are sold everywhere, be careful to get the 100% cashmere, and NEVER pay the price that's advertised.  Also, all over Florence & Rome you'll find apron's of the David statue from the neck down that also made excellent gifts.  There are street vendors that have paintings of Italy that you can bring home to frame for yourself or others.  Hope this gives you some good ideas.

  2. The coffee is amazing, the chocolate is cheap in cost and there is NOTHING that even compares in the states. You can also bring back hard cheeses, wine, or other interesting foods you find.

Another great thing in Rome is there are always a bunch of people selling knock-off designer bags (or who knows, maybe they are stolen designer bags) but I bought my sister a really cute Gucci bag for about 20 euro.

I also went to a book store while I was there and bought a few copies of books in Italian (The Giving Tree, a couple picture books).

Basically anything you bring back for people will be special because it's from Italy!

  3. What to buy in Florence:

  4. leather items, jewelry.  Jewelry in Italy is spectacular!  Same with Shoes or Purses!  Definately canned 'Ragu'!  Not to mention Vino!!!  Best wine in Europe comes from Italy (cheaper than a Coco-cola!)  Ciao!

  5. pack some good things back.

  6. pictures and experiences. dont worry so much about shopping and gathering things to show others you were there. worry about living it up and making memories!

  7. Personally, I think the "Ciao, Roma" hats are cute and the "Ciao Bella, Firenze" T-shirts. These are all in the styles of the Coca-Cola symbol and they are not tacky like most souvenirs. The t-shirts come in many colors and are really cute for females.  They have them for Rome, Venice and Florence so you get to show that you went there while wearing it. They have them at most souvenir stands in these cities. I bought key chains and other small souvenirs but they broke and weren't as useful as the clothing.

  8. I like pretty Christmas ornaments from different places. See if they collect anything, some people like shot glasses, refrigerator magnets, tshirts, things like that.

  9. have a great time- there's no use in going if you don't have fun!  :-)
