I want to make a little terrarium with some houseplants, and I was wondering - which plants would work best for this? And what kind of container would look best? A dish garden? A clear cookie jar? Thanks in advance. =D

  1. I'm wondering if yuu can't use a small 5 Gallon Fish Tank..they sell lids for them too..

i did a terrarium back in the old days in Bible School and I remember having Ferns in it, but I think I had some disease take over and wipe it out. So you'll need to be prepared for plant diseases, I think, since humid moist conditions exist ...just like the Amazon Jungle fungus and water born diseases are concern numeral UNO....

  2. Any small plant that requires high humidly will work well. In mine I put African Violets and ivy, ferns are good too. It really depends on how big you terrarium is.

The plants you don't want for terrariums are any plants that are in the families of cactus or succulents. They are more likely to rot. These plants are great for a dish garden.

Go to the garden center and pick plants that are very small, or use small plants you may already have they will look best.
