  1. --Maintain eye contact with the interviewer and have good posture.

--Don't cross your arms or legs, but don't be stiff, either

--smile and be friendly with the interviewer, but don't try to joke around with him or her

--Be prepared to answer questions like "where do you see yourself in 5 years?" "how does working at Target fit in with your life plan?" and "what are your biggest weakness?"  Also, "what are your goals?"  These are questions that are standard for job interviews, and they like for candidates to have answers for them other than "I don't know."  I have always had trouble with the greatest weakness one, because its hard to talk about your flaws, and I'm kind of obessive, too.  I wonder what I can say that won't make me less desireable as a job candidate but also won't be butt-kissing.  Don't be surprised or take a pause when asked about salary.  If you have little experience, say that you will be happy to start at their beginning rate, if you feel that your qualifications warrant more, don't be afraid to stick to your guns and be confident about it.

--Dress nicely.  These days, and for an interview at a place like Target, I don't think that a suit is necessary, but a nice pair of slacks and a good shirt--not a T-shirt--should be the ticket.

--Take care that your general appearance is tidy and that you wear deoderant and brush your teeth before you go.

    Good luck!

  2. i had an interview at target back in 2001,

the guy asked me what i would do if one of my friends came in and i saw them steal????

    WTF!!!

  3. I wouldn't mention that you don't do anything in your free time. What do you  mean kinda obsessive? That could have several meanings. I wouldn't mention that either. If they ask what you like to do on your free time. Just say you like to hang out with friends, go to concerts, read (even if you barely read), etc. Stuff like that.

Just be nice, be respectful, ask questions if you have any. You don't want to come across as a creep. You could mention that you're an honors student and state your GPA, that impresses people sometimes.

  4. Interviewing tips:

    - Research the company

Find out anything you can about Target.  Because the more you know (if they ask "do you know anything about Target" you can tell them what you know, but tell them a few things: X, X, and X.

    - Focus on your strengths

At Target, you'll be working with people.  Do you like working with people?  Are you good with people?  If so, show this strength.  Having good people skills are important.  Because if you are friendly and are able to interact, that's a bonus.  Not everyone can do this!

    - Think of possible questions

Questions could be... "why did you leave your last job", "why do you want to work at Target", etc.  If you are prepared (and practice your answers), the interview itself should go great

And another thing... dress appropriately!  No jeans of flip flops.

  5. You don't need to dress up very much. Just be fast, fun, and friendly, that's what they are looking for. They will likely ask you to tell them about times you displayed leadership, times you disagreed with someone in a authority (and what you did about it), what you would do if you saw a friend steal... things like that. But they especially like people who are good with people so mention that. They will likely not care about you being an honors student

  6. Remember that customer service type businesses tend to "hire the smile" and train the rest. You want the interviewer to know that you are friendly. Cashiers are the "face of the business". With back to school shopping coming soon, you may want to emphasis that  you learn quickly and are good under pressure. You can still be friendly to the customer you see in hour 6 as you were to the first customer. Are you in any clubs or organizations, done volunteer work? Even working with a group on a big school  project? Use these experiences to highlight you ability to work and get along with other people. DRESS APPROPRIATELY. Do not be afraid of overdressing. Suit and tie if you have it.

    Good luck
