I am entering high school this year and it is very important that I receive a 4.0 or higher GPA. I got all A's my last 3 years, how do I push my self a little harder and go the extra mile.

  1. Be honest with yourself about the level of class you can handle.  I have a feeling you will want to do honors classes, but if you aren't really up for them, they will hurt your GPA.  Some schools give an extra GPA point for honors classes, but this will get "unweighted" by some colleges, so it doesn't matter.

You should push yourself, but you need to keep from stressing out needlessly.  A "B" is not the end of the world.  A wise teacher once told me that once you leave high school, no one will care about what classes you did or didn't take or if you ranked 5 or 30 in your class.

  2. Do your homework.

I couldn't give you any better advice than that.

I know so many people who are intelligent, yet lazy and that's why they are failing. So as long as you do you're homework, you should do well.

  3. turn in all your work on time do all assignments to the best of your abilities and dont make tardys a habbit, get to know your teachers. Take honors coarses and AP classes to challenge yourself even further..it will look well on college applications. Also get involved in the school, run for office or join a club or sport...good luck

  4. One trick is to ALWAYS ask the teacher for extra credit work!!! In some classes that is the key to an

    A.

And they do ALL the home work and study hard for every test! And never back down or forget to do your work.

  5. do all your work, listen to everything during class, study if you need to study, and most of all just try your best because nobody likes a teachers pet.

  6. study more

  7. Make sure you study, study, study. Learn everything about the topic you can so when you get the question on the test you can answer it correctly

  8. You could only get higher than a 4.0 GPA if you take AP classes.(Advanced Placement)

Check with your counselor to see what classes are for you.

And if you pass the test at the end of the year, you get college credit!

  9. Sounds like you got good work ethics. Just don't be distracted by needless things, and remember, work before play. Good Luck!

  10. Besides doing all your homework and studying for all your tests, stay on your teachers good side. Even though teachers say they don't play favorites, most do. If you're in between an A and a B and a teacher doesn't like you, you're more likely to get the B. Good luck!

  11. What kind of school do you go to?  It isn't really possible to get higher than a 4.0... unless you go to a school where AP classes are graded on a 5.0 scale.  Then an A would be a 5.0, B would be 4.0, etc.  So check into that, maybe take an AP class if you're ready for tons of homework and harder classes in that subject.  Otherwise, I think you know the answer, if you've gotten A's so far- do your homework, make it a priority (do it before the "fun" stuff) and really pay attention in class.  Try not to miss too many classes either.  You'll find out high school really isn't that much harder than your last three years were.

  12. Well if you earned straight A's in the last 3 years, there shouldn't be a problem.

Now my advice is that no matter how hard a course is, always strive for an A. Don't be upset if you earn a B; grades aren't everything for entering college.

    Good luck!
