What are some good tips on having a graduation party?

Do any of you have any experiences with having a graduation party, or any good tips on having one? I really want to have a graduation that's fun, has good food, as affordable!

In my experience music is key. If you don't have good music that keeps people on the dance floor people tend to get bored. If you're over eighteen try having a friend go half and half with you and have the party at a night club. There's already a dj and there's a guaranteed crowd.

I hope you can take the bits you need from this:

A good plan may help along with the right amount of helpers. You do need to have a bit of preparation on sending out invites, arranging food, preparing the venue, music, favors, prizes, games and some kind or order of events. Does not have to be timed to the minute, just a general idea of how you would like it to go.

Lots of helpers can prepare the venue, take photographs, clean up afterwards, arrange and play the music, cook, bake, serve drinks, park cars etc.

Choose a venue. Home party is just perfect, but you may have a lot of guests or would rather go bowling with friends.

You might want a theme. A theme that is simple for guests to arrange costume for is great. That could be western where t-shirt, jeans and a cheap fake cowboy hot are easy to do.

Good music that goes with any theme would make the party brilliant. Spending time getting this right helps.

Food can be simple but delicious. Pizza, hot dogs, fruit bowls, chips, burgers, fries, cake, and coke might well be just right for your guests.

Decorations should be on theme. Balloons, streamers, graduate pictures, graduate videos, banners made from bed sheets, bunting, xmas tree lights and confetti. Decorate guests with 2008 funtoos.

Favors and games prizes can be simple picture frames, blow outs, hats,  funtoos, pens, pencils, coffee mugs.
