  1. UT is actually one of the top Forensics schools in the country. And it's pretty inexpensive. check it out.

  2. If you are looking for a good conservatory or music school, then in Texas you are really talking about two schools: UNT music or Rice's Shepard school of Music. You should consider schools outside of Texas as vocal performance is a very competitive admission process.

Here is a list of some other schools (but by no means inclusive of all schools):

    Eastman School of Music

    Oberlin

    NYU (more theatre than voice)

    Julliard

    Curtis School of Music

    Berklee

    Ithaca

  3. For theatre, I would recommend going to St. Edwards. It's a private school in Austin. I've taken drama workshops with some of their profs before, and they're pretty good. I believe Incarnate Word and St. Mary's University have pretty good theatre programs as well. I hear good things about Texas State as far as fine arts are concerned, and also UT. There are other colleges in Texas with programs such as TAMUCC (A&M - Corpus Christi) but while they turn out some good performances, they aren't the best of the best.

I don't know too much about vocal performance, but a lot of schools are putting on musicals and straight shows, so if that's what you want, I'm sure you can find it.

I would tell you to go to the college websites and read about their programs. Email the profs, they'll probably be selling their schools, but ask about what shows they've put on in the past. You can use that to get a feel for how they are. :)

    Good luck!
