Question:

What are some good uses for raw spun wool?

I "inherited" some dyed spun wool that is very rough to the touch. It is also very fine. I tried felting it, but there isn't really anything I want to make with that and it is so small and took forever to knit. Any other ideas? I have ALOT of it.

  1. If you wanted to, you could maybe find a Navajo rug that has the same color (or similar) dye.  You could then display the rug along with the spool of raw wool in an area of your home that's gotten a little "blah".

  2. If it is small, you can take it to a yarn shop and have them ply it for you, that way it would be thicker and easier to knit with. You could make a rug or it works great for coats.

I am very jealous that you have a lot of it. I own a spinning wheel and can't seem to make enough yarn to knit with.
