    please read them.

    They are like crack.

  8. Now obviously you are going to have thousands of fan girls screaming TWILIGHT. so lets get that outta the way first off. yes twilight.

I suggest Anne Rice. the most superb vampire writer in my opinion. I suggest you start with "Interview with the vampire" although any of her novels are great

    Salems Lot by Stephen King

    The Vampire Kisses

    Peeps by Scott Westerfeld

  9. 'Pandora' by Anne Rice

'Vampire Diaries' (cannot recall the author)

    *Both excellent books

  10. Well, guys like the "Twilight" series too... I know many straight men who've read it and loved it lol.

If you're looking for a funny one, read "Vampire High" by Douglas Rees.

And good luck with anyone paying attention to the fact that you're a guy lol... I bet that if you leave this question open till noon today, you'll have at least 20 girls who've posted "Twilight" :p I'm not saying that the series isn't good, I love it. I also understand that those books are more favored by females.

  11. Lawl, do you want more pure vampiric novels or do you not mind a little crossing over into other genres and mythological creatures?

As Alpha said (well, phrased in an interesting way), the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer is a good read, however it kinda shows Vampires in a completely different light (none of the turning into bats, sleeping in coffins and burning in sunlight) and it is a romance novel. Most girls do highly recommend it and quite a few guys read it too. Being a girl myself I liked it a lot though I am midway through the fourth book (and last) which has been highly controversial though I haven't found it as awful as so many people say.

Nora Robert's The Circle Trilogy seems to have also been a popular choice amongst those who enjoy reading vampire novels (I don't really read them myself so this is more accounts from others and friend's recommendations).

Christian Feeman's the Dark Series is also another.

The Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton has also popped up alot. But apparently it is quite firmly rooted in s*x for half the series. So that depends on your age.

Charlaine Harris' The Southern Vampire Series has also been highly acclaimed. It is a first-person account of Sookie's life as a barmaid and telepath in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana.

However, I would repeat once more, the only book I can recommend personally would be the Twilight Series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn).

    Hope it helps anyway.

Edit: Lol, ok horror it is then.

From what I hear 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King is a good one if you want horror.

And Anno Dracula by Kim Newman is an alternate ending for Dracula in which he is not killed and ushers a new age of vampirism into the world.

I am Legend by Richard Matheson has been called 'modern vampire fiction'

and I'll look for more later.

  12. Try Chelsea Quinn Yarbros St Germain Chronicles she has over 20 in print and they are not short.  Also try Fred Saberhagens Dracula novels they give Dracula a different twist.
