I just recently became a vegetarian, and my parents say that i have to get more protein. I still eat eggs and milk, just to clarify. I am also allergic to peanuts, so that is out of the question. What are some foods that have lots of protein in them??

Thanks so much!!

  1. Beans and nuts.  Do some real research on diet and health. Going 'veg' is more than just having a cheese pizza every day.

  2. Tofu, tempeh,  seiten/wheat gluten, lentils, and any kind of bean.

  3. well i resently stopped being a vegitarianand i ate milk and eggs to. i ate tofu like vegie nuggets and vegie burgers, vegie dogs beans,  ect.you might think it would tast gross, but it actually tastes simaler to real meat. but it's tottaly tofu and sometimes with vegies. it also has alot of proten.

when i was a vegitarien i was never low on iern. i only ate a bit of nuts. hope i helped :")

  4. Lots of greens!  They have more protein than muscle.

even garlic has protein in it!

  5. Did a quick search for you to find some links that might be helpful for you.

This first one actually shows where many non-meat based foods have more than meat based - so a good one to show your parents for their peace of mind:

Here is a link to where you can actually get a free book - from the government even - about protein foods and how it isn't limited to just meat from "Vegetarian Times" article:

Another link tossed in just because it has many foods that most Americans would find common and to help give your parents peace of mind:

As you can see - even lettuce has some sort of protein.  Many people just need to sit back, do a tad bit of study.

  6. Not being funny or anything, but tofu is full of protein. There are plenty of meat substitutes out there. In your local groceries, or the Asian ones, you can probably find loads of good, wholesome vegetarian food.

  7. beans, legumes, and lentils and eggs of course

  8. Dairy, eggs, soy, beans, fish, nuts...

  9. Beans!

Soy does, too. Tofu/soy milk/soy beans...

My favorite dish is Pad Thai--vegan style. So good, a little spicey, though. Email if you want to try it.
