Question:

What are some good warm-up exercises before horseback riding?

When I ride I never normally stretched, but lately my ankle has been bothering me when I ride. So is it something serious or something that just needs a quick fix?

Oh yea does the fact that I twisted it a ton of times have anything to do with it?

  1. i have a really bad ankle and i am about your age. i broke it a few years back and it really hurts now when i ride(one reason was my hunter/jumper trainer making me shove it down really really far) and now i ride breed show horses and if you just kinda let it relax when you are standing in the arena it can help and sometimes streching it down in your irons helps it feel better but you can also just do lots of circles and stuff when your just sitting on your horse for random resons :) but good luck i hope it gets better!

  2. when i sprianed my ankle they gave me a stretch thing that you put your foot over and pull on the strecthy thing and it helps with my sprian i have a weak ankle it it twists easliy it really works

  3. I don't know how old you are, but those are the pains that come with getting older. Try just doing some ankle movements to warm them up (like point your toes and draw circles or do the alphabet) just enough to loosen the muscles up. Also consider getting the jointed stirrups (like Herm Sprenger) They do wonders for both ankles and knees. :)
