Me and my friend really feel like doing a backwards handspring! We can do backwards walkovers and stuff but we don't know how to even attempt doing a backwards handspring! We don't go to gymnastics club or anything or have any gymnastics mats, but we can use loads of duvets and cushions if needed. So any ideas please???

  1. First off, it is a back handspring, not backwards

I would recommend joining a gymnastics class, because as you try to do more and more difficult things, the more likely you'll get hurt especially trying to learn alone. I broke my arm doing a back handspring

That said, stand with your feet slightly apart, hands straight in front of you, then swing your arms down a little bit, then over your head, and use that momentum to push your body back, and onto your hands, then push off and land on you feet. your hands and feet should never be on the ground at the same time

Have your friend spot you by putting their hands behind your back, and push you over at the top, and keep you from falling on your head. that would be bad.

I would start on the grass if I were you, find as flat a spot as possible on the grass

    Good Luck! Be Careful

  2. yeah, the safest idea is to go to a gymnastics place for open workout/gym. they have spotters tht will help you.

or do it on a trampoline.
