Hi, I'm Grace and I have a few quick questions for those of you who have been through it all and know what is expected of you for college. I am going to be applying to colleges soon, most of them being really good (Harvard, Penn, Brown, etc.) and I was wondering what I need to include in my application so I can stand out in a crowd. Like what extracurriculars, etc. I need to do to be considered at top colleges. I am a good student, and I have a pretty good shot at being valedictorian, so what else should I be prepared for?

  1. do you know how many valedictorians apply to those schools each year? and how many get in?

I applaud your desire to go to the IVYs, but you should REALLY look at Smith (Northampton MA) and never mind that it is a "womens' college.

My daughter was like you (top of class etc) and could have gone anywhere (IVYs included) but decided that Smith was a good match. It certainly does not hurt to look..... besides, there are UMass Amherst, Amherst College, Hampshire college nearby, and plenty of chances to socialize......

    Good luck in your search
